ERWIN L. GRUBER (d. 1980)
Erwin L. Gruber, 72, of 1019 N. 16th St., Manitowoc, died Saturday afternoon,
March 22, at Manitowoc Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Glenn H. Unke will officiate and burial will be
in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Gruber was born April 2, 1907, in the Town of Kossuth, Manitowoc County,
son of the late Peter and Lucy Worel Gruber. He grew up and was educated in
the Town of Kossuth and married Viola E. Mueller Oct. 8, 1930, at at (sic)
Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, and farmed in the Town of
Kossuth until 1955, when they moved to Manitowoc. He retired as a maintenance
man from Manitowoc Elks Club in 1970, and was a member of Immanuel Evangelical
Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Viola, a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Pamela
Gruber of Manitowoc; three daughters and sons-in-law, Dolores and John Scheurell
of Bellevue, Wash., Carol and Jack Gordon of Puyallup, Wash., and Marlene and
Peter Wagner of Elkhart Lake; a brother, Oliver Gruber of Green Bay, eight
grandchildren, a great granddaughter and nieces and nephews. A daughter, three
grandchildren and a brother preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4 o'clock to
9 o'clock this Monday afternoon and at the church from noon Tuesday until the
time of service. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church
building fund.
