Death on Thurs., after a long and difficult illness, of Mr. Frank Grun, a well
known resident of our city. Mr. Grun was born in Posen and came with his parents
to America as a small child in 1842, settling in Manitowoc Co. Later he moved to
Carlton, Kewaunee Co. At age 19 he joined the Union Army and served 3 yrs. 7
mos. After the war he returned to Manitowoc, married in 1866, and worked here
ever since. He had 8 children from the marriage, 7 of whom are still living. The
veteran's funeral took place Sun. afternoon led by the local post of the G.A.R.
