Calla A. Guyles, 92, of Ephraim, Wis., and La Jolla, Calif., died Monday at
Fredericka Convalescent Home, Chula Vista, Calif.
Graveside funeral services will be held at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery,
Manitowoc.
Miss Guyles was born May 31, 1883, at Norwood, Charlevoix County, Mich.,
daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth Luling Guyles, moving to Manitowoc in
1899, where she was graduated from Manitowoc High School in 1900. She was
graduated from Lawrence College-Appleton in 1904 and taught in Wisconsin public
schools and at University of Wisconsin from 1904 to 1942. Since her retirement
she resided at Casa de Manana in La Jolla and at her Ephraim residence and at
Manitowoc, Appleton, Madison and Milwaukee, where she visited her many relatives
and friends. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc.
Survivors include 12 cousins including John P. Nash, of Manitowoc, Eleanor Nash
Starkey, of New York City, Edwin Nash, of Janesville and Gary Nash, of Big
Rivers, Mich., also the children of the late Alice Nash White and members of the
Guyles family who were formerly of Manitowoc, now living in the State of
Washington.
Schneider-Mittnacht Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is in charge of local arrangements.
