Ernst F. Hacker, 97, of 1714 Grand Ave., Manitowoc, died Tuesday
evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church,
Manitowoc. The Rev. George Knudson will officiate and burial will be
in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Hacker was born Jan. 1, 1877, in the Town of Liberty, son of the
late Fred and Minnie Mauss Hacker. He attended schools in the Town of
Liberty. He married Olga Berge June 11, 1913, at Valders. The couple
then resided on a farm in the Town of Newton, for 31 years, retiring
in 1942 and moving to Manitowoc. During World War II he was employed
at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc. He was the oldest living member of the
St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he had been active on the church
council, serving on various church boards and committees. He was also
a former school board member of the Town of Newton. Mr. and Mrs. Hacker
had celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in June of this year.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Arhtur K. Hacker, of Manitowoc; a
daughter, Mrs. Verlin (Arline) Larson, of Valders; six grandchildren
(private); three great grand children and nieces and nephews. A son,
brother and sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Thursday and from noon Friday at the church until the time of service.
The casket will remain closed.
