Spencer M. Hansen, 76, of 1835 New York Ave., Manitowoc, died Monday afternoon
at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, after a short illness.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church,
Manitowoc, the Rev. Edmund Olson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery.
Hansen was born Aug. 13, 1887, at Manitowoc, son of the late Rasmus and Martha
Tallackson Hansen. He was one of the first rural mail carriers and during World
War II was a machinist at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc.
He married the former Emma Lensing at Manitowoc June 15, 1910, and in 1960, the
couple marked its golden wedding anniversary.
He was a member of Machinist Local 516, past noble grand of Independent Order
of Odd Fellows No. 55 Encampment, a member of Rebekah Lodge and the church
Brotherhood.
Surviving are his wife, two sons Arthur H., of Manitowoc and Milton L., of
Plymouth, three daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Bernice) Marken, Mrs. Louis (Alice)
Musiland Mrs. Ruhl (Norma) Metzger, of Manitowoc, a sister, Mrs. Inga Evenson,
of Green Bay, 19 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Two sons, TS-5 Theodore C. Hansen, a radio technician, was killed in World War
II, and Norman, died in infancy.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 3 p.m.
Wednesday until 10:30 a.m. Thursday when the casket will be moved to church where
the body will lie in state until time of service.
Memorial services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Odd Fellows
Lodge.
