Benjamin C. Hanson, 81, who resided at the home of his son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. James Lodl, of 1614-21st St., Two Rivers,, died Thursday morning
at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Glenn Unke will officiate and burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Hanson was born Aug. 26, 1888, at Manitowoc, son of the late Ben and Theresa
Groll Hanson. He married Paulina Kuether March 21, 1912, at Two Rivers, the couple
then locating to Manitowoc. He was an engineer on Great Lakes and ocean steamships
for 43 years. He operated for Portland Cement Co. and Goodrich Steamship Line,
retiring in 1953. His wife preceded him in death in 1962. He was a member of the
Carpenters Local and the Royal Legion of America.
Survivors include a son, Delmar, of Milwaukee; a daughter, Mrs. James (Myrtle) Lodl,
of Two Rivers; nine grandchildren and eight great granchildren. Two sons, Lester and
Milton, preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 3 p.m. Friday
and until noon Saturday and then at church.
