Mrs. John Hardow, 85, died this morning at her home, 1221 South 11th street,
following a short illness.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 1:30 o’clock from the Wattawa,
Urbanek and Schlei funeral home and at 2 o’clock from the First German Evang-
elical Lutheran church with the Rev. L. H. Koeninger officiating. Interment
will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. Hardow, nee Fredericka Kirchner, was born in Germany on Oct. 2, 1857 and
came to this country when she was 11 years old, the family coming directly to
Manitowoc. On Sept. 19, 1878 she was married to John Hardow here. Mr. Hardow
died seven years ago.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. William Woerfel and Mrs. Henry Johnson of
this city and Mrs. Ted Stobbe of Two Rivers; two sons, Charles of this city,
and Elmer of Detroit; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Schlei, city, and Mrs. Dora
Braun of Hurley; one brother, Fred Kirchner of this city; 21 grandchildren,
and 9 great-grandchildren.
The body will lie in state at the funeral home from Sunday evening to the hour
of the funeral.
