JOHN HARDOW PASSES AWAY
81-Year Old Retired Cabinet Maker Dies Sunday
John Hardow, 81, retired cabinet maker and lifelong resident of the city, died
Sunday evening at the home, 1221 South 11th street. He was taken seriously ill
with a stroke three years ago.
Funeral Wednesday
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Wattawa, Urbanek and
Schlei funeral home in charge of the Rev. W. H. Koeninger. Interment will be in
Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Hardow was born in the same home where he spent his entire life. After
completing school he became a cabinet maker. For nearly 35 years he as employed
by the Manitowoc Lumber company. He retired 10 years ago.
In 1878 Mr. Hardow married Miss Fredericka Kirchner of this city.
Widow Survives
Survivors are the widow; two sons, Charles, city, and Elmer, Detroit, Mich.; three
daughters, Mrs. William Woerfel, and Mrs. Henry Johnson, both of this city, Mrs.
Theo. Stroebee, Two Rivers; 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The body may be viewed at the funeral home from Tuesday noon until the hour of
the services.

ICE GETS FIFTH VICTIM
John Hardow Sustains Fractured Bone in Fall on Icy Walk
Icy walks continue to claim their victims, the latest to sustain injury as a
result of the condition being John Hardow, an employee of the G. Schoch Lumber
Co., who is confined to his home by the fracture of a bone in his arm, resulting
from a fall Sunday. Mr. Hardow was injured on the walk at Eighth & Washington
Streets Sunday afternoon. He was taken to the office of a physician and later
removed to his home. The accident is the fifth to result in injury from icy walks
this winter. Mr. Hardow may file a claim against the city, it is said.
