DORA HAUKOHL (d. 1888)

DIED. HAUKOHL—At THE RESIDENCE OF HER FATHER, Cas. Haukohl, on Friday June 1,
Miss Dora Haukohl, aged 23 years and 11 months.
Dora Haukohl was the only daughter of loving parents and the idolized sister
of several brothers. She was kind and charitable and respected by all that knew
her. Some time ago she visited a brother in Kansas, where she contracted a
malarial fever; coming home it was hoped that she would soon recover, but her
constitution was not strong enough to throw it off and becoming weaker pneumonia
set in and caused her death. Funeral services were held at the house on Monday at
2 p.m., a large number of friends gathering to pay their last respects to their
deceased friend. Mr. A. Wittman preached the sermon at the cemetery. Robt. Haukohl,
of Milwaukee, Chas. Haukohl and wife, of Iowa, arrived in time to attend the
funeral. The sorrowing parents and friends of the deceased have the heartfelt
sympathy of he entire community in their great grief.
The deceased was the only daughter of Chas. Haukohl Esq. Death is no respector of
persons—It appears in the palace as well as the cottage. The good and gentle are
not beyond the reach of this great reaper. In this case a beautiful life just
blossoming into women-hood is called to leave pleasant surroundings, to leave
loving parents, brothers and friends to answer the call of death. Everything that
was possible was done to keep her, but death was inevitable.

Dora Haukohl of this city died on Friday last. Last fall she visited her
brother Charles in Iowa and left there in excellent health to visit friends
in Kansas. Here she was taken sick and came home, but her sickness continued
until she was released by death. She was 24years of age and up to the time
of her last sickness knew nothing of ill health. Her funeral took place on
Monday last and was quite largely attended.
