In Manitowoc the City Treasurer Fred. Haukohl committed
suicide on Wednesday by shooting himself. His was due
to the fact that he had used money belonging to the city
in his own business and could not produce it when he was
asked for it. An audit of the books showed that he owes
the city $1,617.00. His relatives deposited $2,000 at
once to cover the deficit. An examination showed that his
Shoe business had an inventory worth about $7,000.00, and
accounts receivable amounting to $2,000.00 so he could
have easily covered the amount.
