KENNETH HAUPT

Kenneth Haupt, age 88, a Manitowoc resident, passed away peacefully in his
sleep Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009.
Ken was born in Manitowoc on Sept. 27, 1920, son of the late Elmer and Clara
(Mahnke) Haupt. He was a 1938 graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc.
Ken fought with the United States Army in World War II for more than three
years, earning a Purple Heart and Cluster, and was honorably discharged in
1945. Ken was married to the former Ruth Zachow at St. James Church in Shawano
on Aug. 14, 1948. Following the war, Ken worked for the U.S. Post Office as a
letter carrier for 34 years. He then finished his working career as a crossing
guard at St. Andrews School for five years. Ken came from a family of bowlers,
and was a league bowler in Manitowoc for many years. He was a member of Drews-
Bleser American Legion Post 88 of Manitowoc, the Disabled American Veterans and
First German Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife: Ruth Haupt, Manitowoc; two sons and daughters-in-law,
and two grandchildren. (Survivors edited for privacy)
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at First
German Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1033 S. 8th St., Manitowoc. The Rev. David
Rosenow will officiate, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the
time of service at 11 a.m.
Memorial donations would be appreciated for the First German Evangelical Lutheran
Church.
The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc is serving the Haupt family.
