RAYMOND P. HAUPT (d. 1981)

Raymond P. Haupt, 83, formerly of 819 York St., Manitowoc, died Friday afternoon,
Jan. 16, at Park Lane Home, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home,
Manitowoc. The Rev. Arno J. Wolfgramm will officiate and burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Military graveside rites accorded by the American
Legion, Drews Bleser post No. 88.
Mr. Haupt was born June 8, 1897, in the Town of Newton, Manitowoc County, son of
the late August C. and Elizabeth Schmiedicke Haupt. He was educated at Newton
and Manitowoc schools and was a graduate of Manitowoc Central high school class
of 1915. Mr. Haupt owned and operated Haupt Brothers bowling alleys with his
brother Elmer from 1919 to 1942. For five summers he was employed on the S.S.
Roosevelt. He was also employed with Red Arrow Steamship Company from 1947 to
1962 sailing on the S.S. Joe S. Morrow. Mr. Haupt was a member of American Legion
Drews Bleser Post No. 88, Veterans of Foreign Wars Otto Oas post No. 659, 40 et 8,
United Commercial Travels, past commanders club of Wisconsin, Retreads. He was a
Veteran of the Army serving in World War I, Oct. 1918 to 1919 and World War II,
1942 to 1945 serving in the South Pacific.
Survivors include nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and
three sisters.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4 o’clock to 9
o’clock this Sunday afternoon and on Monday until the hour of service. Memorial
may be made to Manitowoc Lutheran High School or donors choice.
