Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at First German
Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Rev.
David Rosenow with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born May 18, 1914, in Roselawn, son of the late Harry and Christine Hanson
Heagle. Vernon was in the United States Army during World War II, serving in the
Railroad Battalion in the Persian Gulf. On Dec. 3, 1947, he married the former
Thelma Sogge at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Vernon worked
for the Chicago and Northwestern Railway as a yardmaster, retiring in 1974.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Haegle, Manitowoc; a son and daughter-in-law,
Harry and Kendra Heagle, Milwaukee; two grandsons, Eric and Brad Haegle, both of
Minnesota and a nephew, David Loritz, Two Rivers. Also surviving are other relatives
and friends. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Lishka.
The family will greet relatives and friends at First German Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Manitowoc, from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of service at 11 a.m.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family
with funeral arrangements.
