JULIUS HECKER (d. 1958)

Julius Hecker, 84, of 1316 S. 11th St Manitowoc, a fireman 39 years with
the Manitowoc Fire Dept., died Monday evening at Holy Family Hospital,
Manitowoc. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Reformed
Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Theodore (?) will officiate and burial will be
in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Hecker was born July 14, 1873 at the town of Newton, son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Carl A. Hecker. He married Emma (?) Nov. 16, 1901 and the couple
always resided at Manitowoc. Mrs. Hecker died July 8,1948.
In 1900 Mr. Hecker was employed as a deliveryman for Johnson Ice Co. and three
years later joined the Manitowoc Fire Dept., as a driver, a position he held 12
years until his promotion to a lieutenant in 1915. he became a captain Jan. 1,
1922 and remained with the department until retirement June 1, 1942.
He was a member of Manitowoc Paid Firemen's Assn and the Equitable Reserve Assn.
Survivors are two sons, Carl H. and Elmer W. of Manitowoc and three grandchildren.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jens Funeral Home Manitowoc until
10:30 a.m. Thursday when the casket will be moved to the church where the body
will lie in state until the hour of the service.
