GLENN J. HELGERSON

Glenn J. Helgerson, age 75, of 1314 S. 8th St., Manitowoc, died Thursday morning,
Feb. 22, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26 at Pffeffer Funeral Home,
and 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc.
Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Camilus, Janus O.F.M. with
burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born July 29, 1925, in Green Bay, son of the late Thodore and Mable Fontaine
Helgerson. Glenn attended Manitowoc Lincoln High School and served with the United
States Navy during World War II. On May 7, 1950, he married the former Lillian E.
Kalista, at Crown Point, Ind. She preceded him in death Dec. 31, 1998. Glenn began
his employment sailing with Standard Oil on the Great Lakes.
After his marriage to Lillian, he bagan his employment with the Medusa Cement Co.,
for 29 years. He was then employed with Manitowoc Engineering Co. until his
retirement in 1986. After his retirement, Glenn was an Advisory Board member of the
Salvation Army Red Shield Store, and also worked as an assistant manager of the store.
Glenn's volunteer work also included Meals on Wheels, Golden K, and was an active
member of the Manitowoc Eagles, Chicago Moose Lodge, and the Manitowoc Senior
Center.
Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Glenn A. Helgerson, James H.
Helgerson and his special friend, Tina, Thomas and Leanne Helgerson, two daughters
and sons-in-law, Judy and Robert Risch, Mary and Brian Seiler, all from Manitowoc;
four grandchildren, Alan, Brian, and Steven Risch, Margot Seiler; five great
grandchildren, Brady, Ben, Bryce, Dylan, and Mariah Risch; one sister, Marie Phipps,
Monticello, Ind.; and a special friend, Evalyn "Brandy" Rodriguez, Manitowoc; nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by a son,
Theodore; and a brother Halvin.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc,
from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. by St. Renee
Delvaux.
Glenn was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending summers at
the family cottage in Little Sturgeon, Door County. He truly enjoyed collecitng
antique outboard motors and was an avid member of the Antique Outborad Motor Club.
