ANNA R. HENTSCHER

MRS. HENTSCHER CLAIMED AT AGE OF NINETY-TWO
End Comes Peacefully To Pioneer Who Had Lived in City More Than 67 Years
Ninety-two years of life were brought to an end early yesterday morning when
death invaded the Albert Hoyer home, at 615 North Eighth street, and claimed
Mrs. Anna Hentscher, pioneer of the city who had spent more than 67 years of
her life here. The end was peaceful and came as a measure of relief, the
infirmities of her advanced age having incapacitated her for more than a year.
Funeral services will be held from the Hoyer home tomorrow afternoon at 2,
the Rev. Weber officiating at the ceremonies, and interment will be made at
Evergreen.
Two Daughters Survive
Mrs. Hentscher, who was Anna Roeder before her marriage, was born in
Niederingelheim am Rhine, Germany, on November 18, 1835, and came to this
country in 1860, directly to Manitowoc where she has since lived. She was
married to Herman Hentscher on January 22, 1867, in this city, and three
children were born to them. Mr. Hentscher passed away eighteen years ago,
and only two daughters survive, being rs. Albert Hoyer, with whom Mrs.
Hentscher has made her home since the death of Mr. Hentscher and Mrs. Albert
Schuette, also of this city. One grandchild also survives, Donald H. Schuette
of Detroit.
Active Despite Years
Until losing her sight some time ago, Mrs. Hentscher took delight in reading
and was well posted and keenly interested in affairs of the day despite her
advanced years. On the occasion of her ninety-second birthday, little more
than a week ago, many of her older friends visited with her and expressed
their well wishes for continued good health with flowers and gifts. Mrs.
Hentscher suffered little, being ill but a day before the end came.
Deceased was widely known, especially among older residents, who knew her
as a true friend and lovable companion.
