Barbara J. Herman, 87, formerly of 1117 North 17th Street, Manitowoc, died
early Monday morning, April 23, 1990, at Shady Lane Home, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Reinbold Pfeffer Urbanek and
Schlei Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Leo J. Schmitt with burial
to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born October 14, 1902, at Two Rivers, Wisconsin, daughter of the late
Philip and Anna Grimm Sickinger. She grew up and was educated at St. Michael
Catholic School in Whitelaw. She married Walter F. Herman on September 16, 1924,
at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. He preceded her in death September 24,
1969. After their marriage the couple lived in Manitowoc. She was a charter
member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church and a member of the Christian Women of
Holy Innocents.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Leroy and Patricia Herman of
Milwaukee, James and Judy Herman of Green Bay, Gerald and Karen Herman of
Manitowoc; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Evelyn Meyer of Manitowoc,
Violet and Ken Peterson of Appleton, Joyce and Gary Kotchi of Utica, Michigan,
Ray Schuh of Cato; 28 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren; two brothers and
sisters-in-law, Gerhard and Elfreda Sickinger of Manitowoc, Ralph and Naomi
Sickinger of Milwaukee; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Sister M. Bertillia
of Milwauke, Beatrice and Lester Kiel of Whitelaw, Lucille Fanslau of Manitowoc,
Germaine and Tony Tuschl of Whitelaw; a step sister, Mayme Pfeffer of Manitowoc;
a step brother, John Grall of Manitowoc; a brother-in-law, Edward Herman of
Manitowoc; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends survive. She was
preceded in death by a daughter, Inez Schuh, a sister, Sarah Helgeson, three
brothers, Ervin, Florian and Martin Sickinger, three step brothers, Frank,
Lawrence and Edmund Grall and a grandson, Michael Koch.
Friends may call at Reinbold Pfeffer Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, 5 p.m. to
8 p.m. Tuesday. Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
