Mrs. Max Hiller, Sr., 87, (photo) of route 4, Manitowoc, died last night
at the homestead farm, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the St. Johns Evangelical
church, the Rev. Paul Blaufuss officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen
cemetery.
Mrs. Hiller, nee Caroline Eggers, was born in Germany in 1860 and was married
there to Max Hiller Sr. in 1881. They came to this city in 1897 and five years
later located on the present farm in the town of Manitowoc Rapids. Mr. Hiller
died in 1936.
She was a charter member of the Ladies Aid society of the Evangelical church,
and was also a member of the Pythian Sisters and the ladies auxiliary of Manitou
encampment, I.O.O.F.
Survivors are three sons, Curt, of route 4, Manitowoc, Richard, of this city,
and Max, former sheriff, on the homestead farm; a daughter, Margaret, also on
the home farm.
The body may be viewed at the Urbanek and Schlei funeral home after Sunday noon,
and will be moved to the church at 10:30 a.m. Monday to lie in state until the
hour of the services.
