CHARLES HOEFFNER

Charles H. Hoffner, 77, a retired railroad employe, died Monday afternoon at
his home at 1500 Marshall street after being stricken with a heart attack.
Mr. Hoeffner was born in Newton in 1873 and married the former Margaret Wernecke
in 1897. They moved to Manitowoc after their marriage. Mr. Hoeffner was employed
by the North Western road for 30 years, retiring in 1943. His wife died in 1942.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. William Hollander of Manitowoc; brother, Ernst of
Manitowoc; sister, Mrs. Sophie Vetting of Manitowoc; and a grand daughter, Mrs.
Norman Peserik of Two Rivers.
Mr. Hoeffner was a member of the male choir, the Lutheran Men’s club and the
Lutheran Aid of the First German Evangelical Lutheran church.
Friends may call at the Urbanek and Schlei funeral home from Wednesday noon until
10 a.m. Thursday when the casket will be moved to the church. Funeral services
will be held in the church at 2 p.m. Thursday, Rev. L. H. Koeninger officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
