Injuries Cause Death of Painter Struck By Auto
Lawrence Hofslund, 60, injured severely when struck by a car at
Franklin and South 18th streets, shortly before 7 o’clock Saturday evening
while walking to a movie, died at 5 p.m. Monday at Holy Family hospital.
Hofslund, a local painter, who resided at 836A South 18th street, had been
in a semi-conscious state at the hospital, suffering from a brain concussion,
internal injuries compound fractures of the right leg and severe scalp
lacerations.
The car which struck Hofslund was driven by Vincent P. Ingemann, 35, of
Custerdale, who told police that the victim appeared to run into the path of
his westbound auto as he drove home from work Saturday evening.
Aids Victim.
He said he had noticed the man standing on the crosswalk and thought he was
waiting for the car to pass. However, as he came up to him, he said Hofslund
suddenly started across the street, making it impossible for him to avoid the

Aided by another motorist, Lingemann said he helped put the injured man in
the ambulance for transfer to the hospital.
Coroner Theodore Teitgen said today that an inquest will be held.
