Mrs. John Hogan, 71, of 2615 Sheridan Place, Manitowoc, died Friday at the Holy
Family Hospital, Manitowoc, following a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Urbanek and Schlei
Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 9 a.m. at the St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc.
The Rev. Clement Kern will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery,
Manitowoc.
Mrs. Hogan was born Catherine Brennan in Lark, Wis., in 1882 and at the age of
17 years moved to Minneapolis. She was married to Hogan at Maple Grove in 1907
and in 1924 they moved to Manitowoc where her husband founded the Hogan Monument
Works, now operated by a son, Sherman. Mr. Hogan died in 1939.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Mary Backus of Manitowoc; son, Sherman of Manitowoc;
three sisters, Mrs. Anna Morrissey of Milwaukee, Mrs. Grace Kiley of DePere and Mrs.
P.J. Morrissey of Cedar Falls, Wash.; and five grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Saturday, where the rosary will
be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday.
