JACOB HOLSEN DIES LAST EVE
Pioneer Threshing Operator Was 73 Years Old
Jacob Holsen, 73, pioneer threshing crew operator, died last night
at the homestead farm on Route 6, Manitowoc. He had been ill for
the past three months.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the home in
Manitowoc Rapids with interment in Evergreen cemetery.
The deceased was born on the farm where he made his home during his
lifetime. He was married 45 years ago to Miss Amelia Kummer.
Forty-two years ago he began operation of a threshing rig and continued
since with this business in addition to his farm work.
Survivors are his widow, two sons, Jacob of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Edward
of Rapids; three daughters, Mrs. George Erdman, Rapids, Mrs. Frank
Fetzer, Kossuth, and Miss Julia at home; one sister, Mrs. Theo Braun,
city; and four brothers, Anton, Peter, Adolph and Joseph, all of this
city. There are seven grandchildren.
The body is at the Wattawa, Urbanek and Schlei funeral home where it
may be viewed Thursday and Friday when it will be removed to the home
on route 6.
