Dorothy M. Holst, age 94, a Manitowoc resident, died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center.
Dorothy was born on April 20, 1917, in Minneapolis, MN, daughter of the late William and Emma (Schimmelpfenig) Alquist. On November 11, 1936, Dorothy married Charles R. Holst in Iowa. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1998. The couple moved to Manitowoc in 1960 and Dorothy worked at Manitowoc Book and Gift. She was a member of First Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: Charles R. (Patricia) Holst Jr., Manitowoc; one daughter: Marilyn R. Cheney, Tucumari, NM; six grandchildren: fifteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Emma Alquist; her husband: Charles R. Holst Sr., one son: Michael G. Holst; one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2011 at the Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 1122 South 8th Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Roald Harswick will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
