Masonic funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Masonic Temple,
810 Chicago St., Manitowoc, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Hooper was born Oct. 17, 1912, at Saginaw, Mich., son of the late Alfred and
Albina Gabzydyl Hooper. He was graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, in
1931 and attended Mission House College, now Lakeland College. He married Helen
Frances Zimmer Feb. 14, 1936, at Manitowoc. Mr. Hooper owned and operated Hooper
Music and Hooper Marine of Manitowoc and had music stores throughout the state of
Wisconsin. He was the first man to introduce the organ to the people of Juneau,
Alaska. He also was a music instructor and professional entertainer, entertaining
in many places throughout the world. He retired in October of 1973. Mr. Hooper
was a stockholder in Lazy Acres Hunting Club, a member of Masonic Lodge No. 65,
F & AM, and Ducks Unlimited, an honorary member of Manitowoc Musicians Local No.
195 and a longtime member of the National Rifleman's Assn.
Survivors include his wife, four sons, A. James, Richard E., John C., and Mark M.,
daughter, Mrs. Thomas J. (Kay) Steeber, of Manitowoc, a sister, Mrs. Phillip
(Arvilla) Schneider, of Sheboygan and seven grandchildren. A son, Manny, preceded
him in death.
Friends may call at Schneider-Mittnacht Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4 to 9 p.m.
Friday and Saturday at the Masonic Temple from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorials may be made to Ducks Unlimited or to the Masonic Order.
