In tracking down the slayer of a New York detective, police are not only following their own noses but the one pictured above (too blurry to post). Witnesses of the fatal shooting said the killer had a 'horse nose,' so Dr.Walter L. horn, eye, ear, nose and throat specialist, modeled this proboscis according to despriptions to help police identif the criminal."

After the death of five cows the Seversons believed that a lightning stroke was the cause. When three more animals died they called Dr. Walter horn, Valders veterinarian. He in turn contacted Oscar Eliason, Madison, assistant state veterinarian. ... ."

"WALTER HORN
Walter L. Horn, 68, veterinarian serving the Valders area since 1916, died Wednesday evening at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, following a lingering illness.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Berge Funeral Home, Valders. The Rev. Gervase Zanotti of the First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc, will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

Mr. Horn was born in the Town of Jackson, Washington County, Nov. 30, 1886, and came to Valders in 1916 to practice veterinary medicine.

He married Mrs. Winifred McCarthy in 1916. She died in 1936 and in 1940 Mr. Horn married Alma Gessart.

He was a member of the Manitowoc Masonic lodge and the Lions Club of Valders. He formerly served on the Valders Board of Education. Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Rita Follett of Madison; a son, Atty. Robert Horn of Valders; a brother, Ray of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Mitchell of Los Angeles, Mrs. Emma Hubert of Plymouth, Mrs. Esther Daly and Mrs. ?one Cooley of West Bend and Mrs. Ruth Moy of Madison; and three grand-children. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Friday."
