NORBERT HUEBNER

Norbert J. Huebner, age 87, of 3610 Schroeder Drive, Manitowoc, entered eternal
life Saturday afternoon, Feb. 20, 2010, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers,
Wisconsin.
Norbert Huebner confessed joyfully that Jesus was his Savior. He had no doubt
about being saved by Jesus or him being in heaven. God promises, "The wages of
sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord." He
asked his children, whom he loved and who had brought him great joy, never to
forget these instructions of Christ to be faithful to him until death and to
proclaim His gospel to every nation. He wanted all of you who know Jesus as
their Savior to share God's Word of salvation in Christ with everyone at home
and wherever you go in the world. May God grant you peace, love and strength as
he guides you through this life. Then, at the end of time, we will be united in
heaven as God's happy family.
Norbert was born Nov. 1, 1922, in Manitowoc. He was the son of the late Albert
and Emma (Schuette) Huebner. Norbert was a graduate of Lincoln High School with
the class of 1941. On Dec. 2, 1942, he enlisted in the United States Army. He
served overseas in the Aleutian Islands during World War II with the 154th Field
Artillery for 2 1/2 years. During his tour of duty Norbert received one battle
star. On Dec. 9, 1945 Norbert was honorably discharged from the United States
Army. He then returned to Manitowoc and became a journeyman painter for 42 years.
The first years were with Ted Wergin followed by 34 years at Rahr Malting Company
(Lakeside Machine Shop) retiring in 1988. On May 23, 1953, he married Elvi
Jirikowic at First German Ev. Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. As a charter member
Norbert was instrumental in helping establish Manitowoc Lutheran High School. He
was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church where he had served on the church
council and faithfully attended church voters' meetings.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Elvi; three children: Robert (Ruth) Huebner,
Watertown, Wis.; Richard (Cheryl) Huebner, Greenville, Wis.; Ruth (Norv) Krug, Green
Bay, Wis.; nine grandchildren: Heather (Jay) Bowman, Peoria, Ill.; Bethany (Rev. Joel)
