IRMGARD HUTCHISON

Irmgard "Hutch" Hutchison, age 85, of Manitowoc, died peacefully at home
surrounded by her family on Friday, July 24, 1998.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 27, 1998, at First
Reformed United Church of Christ, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will
be Pastor Stephen Schuette and Pastor Arthur Wille with burial to follow at
Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Irmgard Helen Daehn was born June 19, 1913, in Sheboygan, daughter of the late
William and Anna Luckow Daehn. She was a 1931 graduate of Sheboygan Central
High School. On October 22, 1932, she married Andrew Hutchison and they moved
to Manitowoc. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1982. Andrew
preceded her in death on January 24, 1983.
"Hutch" worked for many years as Continuity Director for WOMT Radio and also
at the Wisconsin Fuel and Light Company as a dispatcher. She was a member of
First Reformed United Church of Christ, and served on the church council and
as deacon as well as substitute secretary on many occasions. She served as a
sergeant in the Civil Air Patrol from 1943-1945. She was past president of the
Eagles Auxiliary three times and served as an Eagles State trustee. She was
member of the Viking Rosemalor's, the Knitting Club, Copps Consumer Board and
the Newton Lions Club. She received numerous awards from the Newton Lions
including the Heart of Gold Award and the Presidents Appreciation Award for
her many contributions to help the disabled in our community. She has knitted
and donated over 1,500 lap robes to local nursing home residents through the
Newton Lions Club.
In 1988, after receiving seven nominations, Irmgard was the recipient of the
Clipper City Chordsman Harmony Award, naming her Citizen of the Year. She has
also served on the Harmony Award Selection Committee. In 1989, she received a
special commendation for being nominated as one of Wisconsin's ten most admired
senior citizens. Irmgard enjoyed knitting, crocheting, rosemaling, painting
country scenes on saws and spending time with her family and friends. She will
be sadly missed by those whose lives she touched and always remembered for her
compassionate, loving spirit.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Walter Brefczynski,
Manitowoc, Andi and Tom Beschta, Valders; one son and daughter-in-law, Tom
and Lynn Hutchison, Manitowoc; eight grandchildren,Jodi (Chris) Lewis, Jaclyn
(Lee) Rocklewitz, Jerri (Jeff) Rathjen, Jill (John) Bodwin, Jay Hutchison and
his fiancé, Connie Stelzer, Jacly, Andrew and Matthew Pickard; six great-
grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Frances
Hutchison, Ruth Hutchison, Melitta Hutchison; one brother-in-law, Henry
Hutchison; nieces, nephews, and many special friends whose lives Irmgard has
touched through the years. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Hattie
Abel; two brothers, Harry and William Daehn.
Relatives and friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from
4-9 p.m. Sunday (TONIGHT) where an Eagles Auxiliary Service will be held at
7:30 p.m. Relatives and friends may also call Monday at First Reformed United
Church of Christ from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
Irmgard's family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Holy
Family Memorial Hospice for their compassionate assistance in caring for their
