Charles F. Hynek, age 92, formerly of 3805 Custer St., Manitowoc, died Sunday
evening, July 20, 1997, at Park Lawn Nursing Home, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 23m, 1997, at Jens
Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Rev. Mark Brunn will officiate with burial to take
place at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born October 25, 1904, in the town of Franklin, son of the late Joseph
and Mary Simon Hynek. He attended schools in Kellnersville. He was a veteran of
World War II serving with the United States Army from 1942-1943. He married
Blanche Simon on January 7, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas. He was a carpenter by
trade and for many years was employed at the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company,
retiring in 1966.
Survivors include his wife, Blanche, Manitowoc; one sister, Viola Opichka,
Manitowoc; two brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law, Victor Simon, Manitowoc,
Dan Simon and his wife, Helen Simon, Great Falls, Mont., Christine Hynek,
Manitowoc, Anna Hynek, Maribel, Agnes Carson, Washington; cousins, nieces and
nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by one sister, Anna; three brothers,
Frank, Joseph and Victor.
Friends may call at Jens Funeral Home from 6-8 pm. on Tuesday and Wednesday from
9 a.m. until the time of service.
