MILDRED E. JOHANSEN

Mildred E. Johansen, age 83, a Manitowoc resident, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003
at North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.
Mildred was born Dec.4, 1919 at Newtonburg, daughter of the late Louis and Ida
(Carstens) Rodewald. She grew up and was educated in Newtonburg.
On June 11, 1949, she married Edmund Johansen at St. John Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Newtonburg. Edmund preceded her in death July 5, 2001.
She retired from Mirro Co. in 1978.
She was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, and its Ladies
Aid.
She was a charter member of the 20 Gardeners of Manitowoc. She was an avid gardener,
enjoyed camping and playing sheepshead.
Survivors include her daughter: Janet A. (William) Arndt, Neenah; her son: David,
(Susan) Johansen, Hartland; five grandchildren: Erik (Paula) Arndt, West Bend; Amy
(Kevin) Niedermeier, Cross Plains, Wis.; and Jennifer Arndt, Neenah, and fiancé:
Brett Hendrickson; Brenda Johansen, Waukesha; Alan Johansen, Hartland; a great-
grandson; Jonathan Arndt; a brother: Clarence Rodewald, Manitowoc; two sisters:
Loretta Schwalbe, Kiel; and Delores Krancus, Milwaukee. Nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends also survive.
In addition to her parents and her husband: Edmund, she was preceded in death by
a son: Donald Johansen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003 at Bethany Evangelical
Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. The Rev. Stephen Melso and the Rev.
Robert Kujawski will officiate with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call from 9 a.m. to the time of service at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the National Parkinson's Disease Association would
be appreciated.
The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral home and Crematory is serving the Johansen
family.
The family would like to thank the staff of North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation
Center for their tender loving care.
