Mrs. Catherine Johnson, Chicago, Dies While at Rapids
Joy of a reunion of mother and daughter in the visit of Mrs. Catherine Johnson
of Chicago to her daughter Mrs. Edward Braunel of Rapids was turned to sorrow
by the death of Mrs. Johnson which occurred at 6 o’clock this morning after a
brief illness of pneumonia, with a complication. The funeral will be held from
the Braunel home at Rapids Saturday afternoon and interment will be here, the
body not being taken to Chicago.
Mrs. Johnson came here from Chicago three weeks ago planning a visit of several
weeks to her daughter, and shortly after her arrival she suffered an attack of
illness which developed into pneumonia and Wednesday her condition became
alarming and death followed in a short time. Mrs. Johnson was 65 years of age
and is survived by a husband and three children, Mrs. Braunel, Rapids, Alfred
of Chicago and George of California. Though never a resident of Manitowoc county,
Mrs. Johnson had visited her daughter here on numerous occasions and had won many
friends who will sincerely mourn her demise.
