Mrs. John A. Johnson, 87, former Manitowoc resident, died Tuesday morning at
Cincinnati, Ohio, where she made her home with a daughter Mrs. Elsie Gillette.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, Manitowoc.
The Rev. Roland L. Schwandt will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery.
The former Inger Hansen was born Aug. 18, 1869?? At Christiansand?, Norway,
daughter of the late Thomas C. and Henrietta Halvorsen Hansen. She came to
the United States with her parents when 14 and settled with them at Manitowoc.
She was married Nov.26, 1889, to John A. Johnson. He operated a shoe store on
South Eighth Street in the city until his death in 194?
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Ladies Aid Society of _____ Lutheran Church
and the Auxiliary of the Drews-Bleser American Legion Post.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Elsie Gillette and Miss Hildegarde
Johnson of Cincinnati and Mrs. Kenneth Erion of Loveland, Colo; two sons,
Adolph C. of Glen Ellyn, Ill., and Thomas M. of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs.
H. M. Tollefson and Mrs. Charles Barnstein of Manitowoc, 11 grandchildren and
five great grandchildren.
Friends may call at Mittnacht Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 2 p.m. Thursday
until 11 a.m. Friday when the casket will be moved to the church where the body
will lie in state until the hour of service.
