John J. Kalista, 54, of 1422 South 13th St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday morning, November 3, at Manitowoc Company South Works following a coronary attack.
Funeral serivces will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Arno J. Wolfgramm will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Kalista was born Nov. 24, 1926, at Grimms, Wis., son of the late John and Emma Schultz Kalista. He attended parochial school at Reedsville and Reedsville High School, and was a lifelong Manitowoc County resident. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army as a technician third class from February 23, 1945, to November 3, 1946. He married Evelyn Schroeder August 21, 1948, at St. John and St. James Lutheran Church, Reedsville. Mr. Kalista was employed with the Manitowoc Company as a machinist assembly man.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, a son, Ronald J. Kalista and two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara and Stephen Kukoski Jr., and Miss Mary Beth Kalista of Manitowoc; two brothers, Edward and James Kalista of Manitowoc; three sisters, Mrs. David (Agnes) Brunner of Route 1, Manitowoc, Mrs. Christine Waniger of Collins and Mrs. Glenn (Lillian) Helgerson of Manitowoc; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Helen Schroeder of Brillion and two grandchildren, Robyn and Timothy.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home 4 o'clock to 9 o'clock this Wednesday afternoon and at the church from noon Thursday until the time of service.
