John J. (Jack) Kochan, 69, of 1604 Waldo Blvd, Manitowoc, took his life shortly
before noon Thursday.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Mittnacht Funeral Home and at 9:30
a.m. at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. E. A. Radey will
officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
Friday by the Holy Name Society of Holy Innocents Church.

Mr. Kochan was born Feb. 25, 1895, in the Town of Manitowoc Rapids, son of the late
Peter and Catherine Massman Kochan. He attended school in Manitowoc Rapids and also
St. Joseph Catholic School, Silver Lake. He worked briefly at Holy Family Hospital
and Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., Manitowoc, before becoming an engineer for Pittsburgh
Steamship Co. in 1923. He retired in 1960 as a chief engineer.
A veteran of World War I, he served 18 months with the U.S. Army as an infantryman.
He was a member of Holy Name Society of Holy Innocents Church.
Surviving him are three sisters, Miss Marie Kochan, Miss Rose Kochan and Mrs. Elizabeth
Kodet of Manitowoc. Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home where the Rosary will be recited by the Holy Name
Society at 7:30 o’clock this Friday evening.
