WILLIAM R. KOLLATH (d. 1962)

William R. Kollath, 69, of 819 York St., Manitowoc, died Thursday afternoon at
the City Pit, where he suffered a heart attack.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First German Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Manitowoc, the Rev. L. H. Koeninger officiating. Burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be performed by Drews-Bleser
Post 88 of the American Legion. Mr. Kollath was born Nov. 8, 1892, at Manitowoc,
son of the late August and Henrietta Siegert Kollath. He married Elsa Haupt
Oct. 15, 1919, at Manitowoc.
He was employed by the City of Manitowoc for 25 years as bridge tender and
mechanic at the city garage, retiring three years ago.
He served in France during World War I, being discharged July 29, 1919. He was
past chef de guerre of the area’s 40 et 8 Voiture and a member of Drews-Bleser
Post of the Legion, serving on the post’s sick committee for 30 years and a
member of the local Barracks of World War I Veterans of America Inc.
Survivors include his wife, a brother, Harry, of Manitowoc and several nieces
and nephews.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Sunday at the State Street entrance of Urbanek and
Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, until 10:30 a.m. Monday when the casket will be
moved to the church where the body will be in state until the hour of service.
