morning at his home two miles southwest of Valders.
He had been enjoying good health and arose as usual to join his wife in
preparation for observance of Christmas the following day. Shorty after nine
o'clock he was stricken, and died soon after the arrival of a physician. His
death saddened the Kolwey home, where the couple had observed their 55th wedding
anniversary only three weeks ago. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2
p.m. from the Wattawa, Urbanek and Schlei funeral home, with interment in
Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Kolwey was born in 1859 at Thiensville, Wis. When a boy he came to Meeme
with his parents. He took up farming and later became a millwright, first in his
father's mill and then at School Hill. He married Miss Emma Blumenstein in 1884.
In 1900 he moved to what is now the village of Valders and opened a general
store and became postmaster at Eaton post office. In recent years the Kolweys
retired, moving to the present home on route 1, Valders.
Survivors are a son, Clarence, of Milwaukee; three daughters, Mrs. J.L. Pankratz
and Mrs. William Wagner, both of this city, Mrs. Ray Van Calligan of Sheboygan;
two sisters, Mrs. Herman Bohne of Cleveland, Wis., Mrs. Eliza Langehahn of
Meeme; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The body may be viewed
at the funeral home until the hour of services.
