Joseph Kouril, 62, (photo) of 413 N. 10th St., Manitowoc, died Monday at Holy
Family Hospital, Manitowoc, after a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Urbanek and Schlei
Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 9 a.m. at Scared Heart Catholic chruch. The Rev.
L.M. Schorn will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Military
rites will be conducted at the grave by the American Legion.
Born Feb. 18, 1891, at Prague, Bohemia, he came with his parents when 10 to the
United States. He was employed for years as a sheet metal worker at the Manitowoc
Shipbuilding Inc., and until illness forced him to retire last year was a custodian
for five years at Holy Family Convent, Silver Lake. During World War I he enlisted
in the Canadian Army. He was a member of the Drews-Bleser Legion post and the Legion
band and the ZCBJ lodge.
In 1947 he married the former Anna Chadek at Manitowoc, who survives in addition to
a sister, Mrs. John Ribbeck of Union Grove, Wis.
Friends may call at the funeral home after Thursday noon until the hour of services
Friday. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
