FRED KRASE

Fred Krase Wanted to Reach Home Before Death, But Failed in Effort
Told by physicians in California that he had but a short time to live, Fred Krase,
a former Manitowoc man, made an ineffectual attempt to reach the old home before
the summons came, Death overtaking him at Evanston, Wyo., while he was aboard a
train enroute here. Mr. Krase was found dead in his seat in the coach when the
train reached Evanston and the body was prepared for burial there and forwarded
to this city, arriving here Tuesday night. The funeral will be held Thursday
afternoon, services being held at the Winter home on So. Main street.
Mr. Krase was a former employe of the Manitowoc Gas Co. under the old management
and later was employed by the J. G. Johnson Fuel Co. in the ice delivery department.
The family resided on So. Sixteenth street, near Wollmer, owning their home, and
Mrs. Krase will return there. Mr. Krase's illness developed from a severe cold
which settled on his lungs and during the winter he removed to California in hope
of restoration of his health. He was 36 years of age and had many friends who will
regret his death.
