Mr. Emil L. Kraus, 96, died Thursday morning, Dec. 22, at the Manitowoc Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wesley United Methodist Church, Manitowoc. Rev. Robert Hays will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Kraus was born Oct. 20, 1887, in the Town of Rockland, Manitowoc Co., son of the late Fred and Amelia Krueger Kraus. He was educated in the Town of Rockland. He married Emma Ottelien on May 11, 1911, at Reedsville, Wis. The couple farmed for a number of years at Rt. 2, Reedsville. Mr. Kraus was employed during World War II at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Co. as a carpenter from 1943-1962. He was then a part-time carpenter until retiring in 1966. Mr. Kraus was a supervisor for the Town of Rockland for 12 years and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Emma; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Raymond Kraus of Reedsville and Marvin and Verona Kraus of Manitowoc; two daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and John Doka of Milwaukee and Mabel and Charles Daley of Rhinelander; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Ebert of Manitowoc; 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Elroy, a brother and a sister.
Friends may call at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to the time of services at the church. Memorials may be made to the donors choice.
