EDWARD A. KRAUSE

Edward A. Krause, age 97, of 1450 N. Eighth St., Manitowoc, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at North Ridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at Holy Innocents Catholic Church. The Rev. Gerald Foley will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. Edward was born Nov. 5, 1906, in Two Creeks, the son of the late John and Anna Yohanek Krause. He graduated from Washington High School, Two Rivers, in 1925. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison Agricultural Department. Edward married Lillian Mazanet on July 16, 1930 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Stangelville by the Rev. J. Vorlicek. They celebrated 73 years of marriage. After their marriage, Edward and Lillian settled in Manitowoc. He started the Lakeshore Chicken Hatchery and in 1933 became the Blatz Beer distributor, which he had for 23 years. Ed then went into the compost and organic vegetable business, which he had until 2003. He was a familiar vendor at the Lakeview Center Farmer's Market. Ed was a member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church, past member of the Holy Name Mens Society of Holy Innocents and head usher for many years, Knights of Columbus, and the Wisconsin Czechs. Inc. Survivors include his wife: Lillian (Babe), Manitowoc; two sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and Dorothy Krause, Shoto; Jon (Jack) and Louise Krause, Manitowoc; six grandchildren: Michael and Dawn Krause, Manitowoc; Linda and Russ Krawczyk, Freeport, Ill.; Christine and Adrian Velasquez, Milwaukee; Kami and Todd Cartwright; Prior Lake, Minn.; Andrew and Michelle Krause, Waukesha; Jill Krause, Sheboygan; 13 great-grandchildren: Adam and Tyler Krause; Jared, Jennifer and Jackie Krawczyk; Drake, Brant and Brock Cartwright; Jacob, Caleb, Noah, Bethanie and Elijah Krause; three step grandchildren: Julie and Charles Rohrer, Two Rivers; James Wester and Cheryl Gamble, Branch; Kathryn and Michael King, Mayer, Ariz.; 13 step great-grandchildren; two step great-great-grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Ed was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Mary June Krause; one brother, Alois; one sister, Caroline Feuerstein; five brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law. Relatives and friends may call on Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at Holy Innocents Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. The Jens Family Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the Krause Family.
