Mrs. Bessie M. Krieg, 70 (above) of 710 Marshall St., Manitowoc,
wife of the late Carl H. Krieg, veteran Manitowoc market operator,
died Saturday night at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc, where she had
been a patient for seven weeks.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First
Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Roland Schwandt will officiate
and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born Bessie M. Cobb March 8, 1885, in Sheboygan, daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Selby Cobb, and was married to Mr. Krieg
in Milwaukee in 1906. They located in Chicago and moved to Manitowoc
in 1910 when he became manager of two meat markets in Manitowoc and
one in Two Rivers for the Cudahy Packing Co.
Later he took over the markets and continued their operation until
his death in 1945.
Mrs. Krieg was a member of the Pythian Sisters, Women's Guild of the
First Lutheran Congregation and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Raymond Kruck of Manitowoc and Mrs.
Elmer Stecker of Oshkosh; a son Carl F. of Manitowoc; three sisters,
Mrs. George Schadeberg and Mrs. Leo Chadek of Manitowoc and Mrs.
Stella Spoerl of Milwaukee; brother, Ross Cobb of Pewaukee, Wis.; and
six grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc.
The casket will be moved to the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
