Tumble Down Stairs Is Fatal
Accidental death was the official ruling Monday on the mishap Saturday which
took the life of Alexander Krizan, 53, of N. Fourth St.
Krizan died at the Memorial Hospital of a skull fracture he received in a fall
down a flight of stairs shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday.
Police said Krizan was found at the bottom of the stairs in the Barn tavern,
705 Chicago St.
Dr. Theodore Teitgen, Manitowoc County coroner, ruled Monday that Krizan's death
was accidental.
Krizan, a worker at the Hamilton Manufacturing Company in Two Rivers, entered the
tavern an hour before the accident, police were told.
He was on his way to the basement rest room when he apparently tripped and fell
down a flight of 11 steps.
Police said he was taken to the Memorial Hospital by city ambulance, and died there
about two hours later.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral
Home, Manitowoc. Dr. C. H. Phipps of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate
and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Krizan was born in Bohemia in 1900 and in 1929 came to this country and located at
Franksville, Racine County. In 1946 he came to Manitowoc and married Yarmilla Dusek
Price.
Surviving are his wife and a step-son, Harry Price of Manitowoc; two sons, William
and Wenzel Krizan of Racine; daughter, Appolina of Racine; three brothers, Michael
of Racine, Simon of South Milwaukee and John of Franksville; two sisters Mrs. Louis
Machalik of Racine and Mrs. Appolina Holinar of Chicago.
Friends may call at the funeral home until hour of services.
