AUGUST KRUEGER, NEWTON PIONEER, IS CALLED TO REST
August Krueger, one of the best known residents of the town of Newton is dead
at his home there after an illness of only nine days, due to bronchial
pneumonia. Mr. Krueger's death occurred yesterday and the funeral will be
held Sunday afternoon from the home in Newton at 1:30 with burial at
Evergreen.
News of the death of Mr. Krueger will come as a shock to friends as he had
enjoyed robust health up to his fatal illness. He was born at Daberkob,
Germany, 66 years ago and came to Manitowoc county as a boy of eight, the
family locating on a farm in Liberty. Mr. Krueger was married in 1881 to
Marie Hoeffner who with five children, survive. They are Paul and Charles
of Rapids, Edwin, who is teller at the Savings bank in this city, Adolph
and Dora in Newton. One sister, Mrs. William Otto, of Liberty and a brother
Charles, and one grandchild also survive.
