Emil G. Kuchenbecker, age 90, of 1320 N. Ninth St., Manitowoc, died Thursday,
Dec. 25, 2003.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at First
Presbyterian Church, 502 N. Eighth St., Manitowoc. The Rev. Christopher Schwab
will officiate with burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
Emil was born Sept. 2, 1913 at Westboro, Wis., son of the late Charles and
Hattie Basken Kuchenbecker. He moved to Manitowoc at age 6 where he was
educated and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1931.
On Aug. 6, 1935, he married Ruth A. Nickels at Melnik Presbyterian Church. Emil
owned and operated Kuchenbecker's Grocery Store at 913 Chicago St., which had
previously belonged to his father. After leaving the grocery business, he was
employed at the hardware department of Sears, Roebuck & Co. until his retirement
in 1974. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed fishing and playing sheepshead with
his sons and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter, two sons, grandchildren, brothers-in-law
and sisters-in-law. Cousins and friends also survive. He was preceded in death
by a daughter-in-law: Catherine Kuchenbecker and brothers-in-law and sisters-
in-law.
Relatives and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian
Church to the time of service at 11 a.m.
The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is serving the Kuchenbecker
Family.
The family would like to thank the Dr. and the 3 East nursing staff at Holy
Family Memorial Medical Center for their care and concern.
