Elsie H. Kuhl, of 2000 Clark St., Manitowoc, died Monday afternoon,
March 29, 1999, at Bellin Hospital, Green Bay.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 5, 1999, at
the Pfeffer Funeral Home, and 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church,
Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev.
William Zimmer with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born in the town of Carlton, Kewaunee County, daughter of the
late Frank and Mary Skarvan Schleis. On October 9, 1948, she married
Charles Kuhl, at St. Luke Catholic Church, Two Rivers. He preceded her
in death January 31, 1989. Elsie previously owned and operated her own
Beauty Salon in Two Rivers. She also was the Cutco Cutlery Sales
Representative of Manitowoc County. Elsie was an active volunteer for
the Manitowoc/Two Rivers Chamber of Commerce, Manitowoc Visiting Center,
Capitol Civic Center, and a former member of the Daughters of Isabella.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael Kuhl and his
fiance, Pam Bubolz, Manitowoc, Steven and Nia Kuhl, Winneconne; one
daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Steve Scherer, Manitowoc; ten
grandchildren, Kelley & Shaun Kuhl, Alison, Patrick, Rachel & David
Kuhl, Kristin, Craig, Christopher, and Ryan Scherer; one brother and
sister-in-law, Francis and laine Schleis, Kewaunee; two sisters-in-law,
Delores (Schleis) Treglowne, Kewaunee, Lynn Kuhl, Manitowoc; and a
special friend, Sheila Kuhl, Oshkosh. Nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jared
Kuhl; and two brothers, Melvin and David.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the Pfeffer Funeral Home,
Manitowoc, from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, where a prayer service will be held at
7 p.m. led by Deacon Robert Drobka.
Nana was an avid sports fan, who enjoyed watching her children and
grandchildren compete in softball, basketball, baseball, football,
hockey, and soccer. She especially enjoyed spending time in the woods
picking mushrooms with her family and friends.
