EMIL KUMMER

Emil C. Kummer, 86. of 3737 Dale St., Manitowoc, died Sunday morning, May 10, at Holy Family Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc, where the Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated by the Rev. Philip Hoffmann. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, and military graveside rites will be accorded Mr. Kummer by Veterans of Foreign Wars Otto-Oas Post 659.
Mr. Kummer was born Sept. 21, 1894, at Manitowoc, son of the late Gustav and Margaret Holsen Kummer. He was educated in Manitowoc schools and was a veteran of World War I, serving with the United States Army in Europe from 1918 to 1919. He married Carrie M. Staudinger Feb. 1, 1922, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. Mr. Kummer was employed with Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc. for 35 years, retiring in 1960. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Holy Name Society of the church, Boilermakers Union Local 443, Manitowoc Senior Citizens, VFW Otto-Oas Post 659 and World War I Barracks 2565. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1972.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie; four sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Marion Kummer, Harold and Evelyn Kummer and Eugene and Carol Kummer of Manitowoc and Dennis and Christine Kummer of Two Rivers; a daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Richard Erdmann of Manitowoc; 24 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. a brother, a sister and a grandson preceded him in death.
Friends may call at Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A prayer service will be at 8 p.m. conducted by Deacon William Klein.
