Marie M. Kunz, age 96, of 518 North Fifth St., Manitowoc, died Thursday,
June 25, 1998, at her residence.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 1998, at First
Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Rev. Richard Lind will officiate, with burial
to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born February 3, 1902, in the town of Cato, daughter of the late
Christian Melvin and Marie Halverson Madson. Marie attended schools in
Manitowoc and graduated with the Class of 1920 from Manitowoc High School.
She married Franklin C. Kunz on December 20, 1938, in Cato. He preceded her
in death in 1985. Marie was a member of First Lutheran Church, the Church
Women, Sons of Norway,and the Manitowoc Historical Society.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Paul Berge, Madison;
two grandchildren, Robert (Lisa) Berge, Bedford, N.H., and Maren Berge,
Steamboat Springs, Colo.; two great-granddaughters, Christian Marie and
Brianna Caitlyn Berge, Bedford, N.H.; one cousin, Enanda (Chauncey) Reinertson,
Manitowoc; two special friends, Martian Sorge, Manitowoc, and Polly Hellmintoller,
Manitowoc. Other relatives and friends also survive.
Relatives and friends may call on Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at First Lutheran
Church, Manitowoc.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, Bethany
Lutheran College, Manitowoc Community Hospice, or the donor's choice.
Jens Family Funeral Service and Crematory is assisting the family with funeral
arrangements.
She was lovingly cared for by a wonderful group of women, including Jane Schanke,
Gladys Krowiorz, Gladys Seibel, Rita Tissler, Bernice Hassemer, Teresa Woitkovich,
Jane Abbott, Dolores Anhalt.
Marie was a lady of great faith, kindness, and love. People were always invited
to come and share her gracious hospitality. All will remember her beautiful smile.
