ORION KUNZ

Orion E. Kunz, 35, died suddenly in Los Angeles, recently after several months
of ill health.
Private funeral services were held in Manitowoc Saturday afternoon and burial
was in Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Kunz was born in Manitowoc in 1911, the son of Mrs. Anna Kunz and the late
George C. Kunz. He was educated in the Manitowoc public schools and at Culver
Military academy, followed by training as a brewer under his father, with whom
he was associated in the brewing industry.
For the past 11 years, Mr. Kunz resided in southern California where he owned and
operated a retail automobile service.
He was a veteran of World War II, entering service in April of 1943 and was
honorably discharged in March, 1946. He served three years in India and was the
recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific theater campaign medal, good conduct medal and
World War II victory medal. He was a member of the American Legion, the Los Angeles
Athletic club and the order of DeMolay.
Surviving are his mother of Manitowoc and a brother, Frederick of Lake Forest, Ill.

Kunz and Wife Are Found Dead
Studio Guard Takes Life on West Coast
Los Angeles-Orion E. Kunz, 37, formerly of Manitowoc, Wis., a film studio
guard here, may have driven his automobile around the city with his dead wife
sitting beside him as a passenger, according to police here.
They’ll never know positively, however, for Kunz took that secret with him to
his death. He committed suicide, officers said. He ended his life at the home
of friends in nearby Venice, police said.
Police, after finding suicide notes on Kunz’s body, indicating domestic troubles,
located the automobile containing the body of the dead man’s wife, Dorothy
Anderson Kunz, 33, apparently, a murder victim. A coroner’s report indicates that
Mrs. Kunz had been dead 24 hours.
A friend told officers that Kunz came to his apartment Friday and said that he
had murdered Mrs. Kunz. Later, however, the studio guard denied that story.
One of the suicide notes requested that both bodies be cremated and the ashes
scattered over the Pacific ocean.
