LYLE W. KURTZ

Mr. Lyle W. Kurtz, 77, of 225 Saratoga St., Chilton, passed away Friday, August 17,
1990 at the Calumet Medical Center, Chilton. Funeral services will be 11 am Tuesday,
August 21 at St. Martin Lutheran Church, Chilton. Rev. Robert Novotney will
officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born September 15, 1912 in Advance, Wis., Shawano County, son of the late
Delmor and Janet Mitchel Kurtz. He married Audrey Krieser in 1935. She preceded
him in death in 1964. In 1966 he married Edna (Becher) McKenna at Chilton. He had
owned and operated a Blacksmith Shop in Black Creek until 1953 when he purchased
R & S Manufacturing Company in Chilton, currently known as Chilton Manufacturing
Company for many years. He was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church, Chilton,
the Christian Circle club, President of Calumet County Historical Society. He has
served for many years on the Chilton City Council and had served as Council President
until 1989. He was a member and Past President of Chilton Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife, Edna; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Barb Kurtz
of Chilton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Ron Klein, Gloria and Dan
Schaut, both of Manitowoc; five grandchildren, Robert, Rick and Heidi Klein, Brenda
and Lori Schaut; a sister-in-law, Beatrice Kurtz of Advance. He was preceded in
death by his first wife, his parents and a brother.
Friends may call at St. Martin Lutheran Church, 8 am Tuesday until the time of
services. A memorial fund has been established for St. Martin Lutheran Church and
the Calumet Historical Society. Wieting Funeral Home, Chilton, is assisting the
family with funeral arrangements.
