Emma L. LaCost, 86,of Holy Family Skilled Nursing Facility, formerly of Garfield
Garden Apartments, 2000 Clark St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the
facility.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Keith Burnett of the Jehovah Witnesses
will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. LaCost, nee Emma Heinone, was born April 3, 1893, at Lachine, Provience of
Quebec, Canada, daughter of the late Kaarle and Amanda Mathodth Heinonen. She
received her citizenship in 1904 and taught schoolin (sic) Pine County Minnestoa
for several years before moving to Washington D.C., where she was employed with
the United States government. Aug. 11, 1919, she was married to Joseph N. LaCost.
He preceded her in death in 1944. In 1925, she moved to Manitowoc, where she resided
the past 54 years and worked at Holy Family Hospital for 25 years beore retirement.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Helen LaCost, Jr. of Palm
Desert, Calif.; three daughters and a son-in-law, Marion L. Matcaroff of Cypress,
Calif., and Joan M. Mckinnon and Emmy Lou and Robert Bernhardt of Dixon, Ill.; a
brother, Aaron Heino (sic) of Sturgeon Bay, nine grandchildren, nine great grand-
children and other relatives and friends. Four brothers and four sisters preceded
her in death.
Friends may call at Parkside Funeral Home 4 o'clock to 9 o'clock this Wednesday
afternoon and Thursday until the time of service. A memorial fund has been
established in her name.
