Gustav (sic) Lauch, 86 (above), retired street railway engineer, died Friday
morning at Shady Lane Home, Manitowoc, where he and Mrs. Lauch have been
residing.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Urbanek and Schlei
Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church,
Manitowoc. The Rev. D. L. Krembs will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
He was born in Germany in 1868 and in 1888 emigrated to America, settling in
Marinette, where he was an engineer for the street railroad there. In 1895 he
married Miss Mary Ann Schneider. In 1902 Mr. and Mrs. Lauch came to Manitowoc
where he was employed by the Manitowoc and Northern Traction Co. as an engineer
for 23 years. He was employed later as a power engineer for the Manitowoc
Products Co. until his retirement.
He held a life membership in the National Assn. of Power Engineers and was a
member of the Holy Name Society and the Catholic Knights.
In 1950 the couple observed its 55th wedding anniversary.
Surviving are his wife and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the funeral home after Sunday noon.
